I’ve been running a successful commercial graphic design and illustration practice since 2004, but during the last four years I have expanded my skills, scratching a yearning itch to create more art and diversify myself.
Extending myself into the world of abstract painting, murals and sculptures, this direction is deeply satisfying and refreshingly challenging. Entering art prizes, developing workshop ideas, learning about promoting myself and creating commission opportunities are all part of my goal to earn a part-time living from my art.
My efforts to expand this relatively new arts practice has taken me into painting murals with community and school groups, creating custom artworks and developing my unique visual ‘voice’ through abstract painting and drawings on paper and canvas. Diversifying myself has a welcomed physicality, a change from my desk-based design and deadline-driven work.
I often work on new ideas early in the morning, before the rush of the day begins.
My dressing-gown has now doubled as a painting smock!
Join me on my journey to dedicate more time to creating art and less time in the office.
