Barryland

The rolling hills of Tasmania’s midlands are a strong recurring theme in my art. I find a peaceful sense of myself there. The hills evoke memories of watching sun-bathed rolling hills rise and fall from the car window when travelling as a child. Those daydream moments were an escape from an often confusing and over-stimulating world. Representing a visual symbol of calm, I often seek the undulating horizon around me in my everyday life. This piece explores these dreamscape memories, created from sketches around Nairns Sugarloaf hill at Coal River Valley, owned by a family member – Barry.
